Department of Education Releases Resources on Improving School Climate (Press Release)
As part of efforts to ensure safe and supportive school climates, the U.S. Department of Education released school climate surveys that can be used with middle and high school students, instructional staff, non-instructional staff, and parents and guardians. The web-platform for these surveys can be downloaded for free and hosted on state, local, or school-based data systems; the federal government will not collect or store data from these surveys.
Also included is the “Quick Guide on Making School Climate Improvements,” which offers information and suggestions for instituting and maintaining school climate improvements. The guide identifies and provides information on implementing these five activities:
Collecting, analyzing, and reporting school climate data
Identifying and implementing interventions
Monitoring and evaluation
