Policy Recommendations for College and Career Ready Standards in Secondary Schools
In this policy brief, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) calls upon policymakers to help principals effectively implement new college and career ready standards. The report makes separate sets of recommendations for federal, state, and district policymakers to help states and districts set reasonable expectations for educators in the implementation of the new standards.
While not specifically stating goals and objectives, this resource is clear in its purpose to provide guidance and recommendations from the perspective of the National Association of Secondary School Principals. It is concise in its presentation and organized by policy makers providing specific recommendations to each. It is timely in the opinions being reflected for this stakeholder constituency. Its suggestion to “slow down” with some national initiatives now being implemented and support deeper engagements relative to new standards is worthy of consideration.
