The Working Group on ELL Policy: Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)
The stated mission of The Working Group on ELL Policy is to bring “a research perspective to developing recommendations, sharing information, and fostering dialogue among educators, policymakers, and other stakeholders about current policy issues affecting English Language Learners.” Members of The Working Group on ELL Policy include researchers with extensive experience in educating ELL students and a substantial understanding of the research on effective strategies for this population. Collectively, members of The Working Group bring the combined knowledge of several leading universities and educational research organizations across the United States. Under the website’s “Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)” tab includes policy statements and recommendations related to current regulations.
For stakeholders concerned about the learning and teaching of English learners (ELs), it is worth taking the time to read the policy statements, comments, and recommendations written by The Working Group. The Working Group’s papers on ESEA, as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act, are brief and provide expert voices in advocating for quality education and accountability for ELs.
