School and district leaders will be engaged in identifying strategies for leadership of a system in which assessment tools and practices are key levers in achieving shared goals for student learning for all students. Participants in these customizable workshops will explore key aspects of assessment leadership and develop a plan for their own school or district. Participants will learn:
- How to articulate a common vision for assessment that reflect shared goals for teaching and learning,
- Strategies to establish a comprehensive, balanced system of assessment, including engaging stakeholders to conduct an assessment inventory and evaluation, and
- Important ways to build a culture of assessment literacy in which different stakeholders (e.g., teachers, students, families) can engage effectively with assessment to improve teaching and learning outcomes. Participants will consider implications for communication, professional learning and educator support, teacher observation and evaluation, and family engagement.
