Making the most of summative assessments and the results they produce can be challenging. WestEd designs and develops face-to-face, customized, Assessment Literacy Workshops, along with accompanying tools and materials. These workshops help educators and administrators understand how summative assessments are designed, developed, and scored, and how the results can best be used to improve teaching and learning in their school or district. Participants will also become prepared to facilitate training educators in their own education community.
Customized Support
WestEd’s Assessment Literacy Workshops are tailored to meet each state’s unique standards and system of assessments.
In addition to the workshops, teachers can benefit from our instructional video series on how to design strong, standards-based assessments for use in the classroom, as well as from videos created specifically for performance assessment trainings.
All of WestEd’s research-supported professional development services and materials can help foster local initiatives to design effective tests and performance measures.
Trusted Experience
Clients participating in our assessment literacy workshops report increased confidence in the use of data emerging from their assessment systems and in their educators’ ability to provide effective standards-based instruction.
