Common Core State Standards Video Series: ELA
This series of Common Core State Standards (CCSS) videos was created by the Southeast Comprehensive Center in collaboration with the states it serves. The videos were designed based on state needs for professional development to support states, schools, and teachers in the implementation of the CCSS. As described by the video landing page, “Each video is an audiovisual resource that focuses on one or more specific standards and usually includes examples/illustrations geared to enhancing understanding. The intent of each content-focused video is to clarify the meaning of the individual standard rather than to be a guide on how to teach each standard, although the examples can be adapted for instructional use.” The videos are organized by grade level, and more videos will be posted as they are developed.
These videos provide classroom teachers with good ideas for implementing CCSS-aligned ELA lessons in their classrooms. The information the videos convey is concrete and practical while also helpful in designing lessons with the cognitive demands called for in the standards.
