English Learners and ESSA: A TESOL Resource Kit
TESOL’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) resource kit is to support TESOL professionals in understanding how ESSA will affect the field. The resource kit helps educators of ELs understand the essential components of ESSA and provides an overview of the updated law, summaries of the major provisions organized by title, and an in-depth analysis of the law that are most pertinent to teachers of ELs in K-12 schools.
This is a well-developed resource that provides much needed information to teachers of EL students on ESSA and how it affects the education of ELs. Although this is a lengthy document, the section headings, tables, and bulleted summary points make it easily accessible and readable. TESOL also makes available a companion webinar that will help TESOL educators further understand this new legislation.
