Assessment Tools in Informal Science
This searchable website, created by the PEAR Institute, provides assessment tools for informal science learning. This website allows practitioners, evaluators, researchers, and policy makers with the information to choose appropriate tools for assessing program quality and outcomes for children and youth. The tools found on the website were reviewed by the PEAR staff.
The website can be a very useful resource for educators at all levels (state, district, school) and grade spans searching for STEM assessment tools. The information included in each review consists of assessment type, scale, respondent, and sample items. The ability to search for tools based on age, domain (e.g., engagement/interest, competence, knowledge/acquisition), and assessment type (e.g., interview, point scale, multiple choice, open response) is extremely handy. Additionally, user reviews provide additional insights to the applicability and usefulness of the tool.
