Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as Amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act – Innovative Assessment Demonstration Authority: A Proposed Rule by the Education Department on 7/11/2016
As part of the authorization of the Every Student Succeeds Act, the U.S. Department of Education released proposed regulations regarding the supplement not supplant provision of Title I, Part B. These regulations provide stipulations for states, or a consortium of states, regarding the use of innovative assessments. The proposed regulations include requirements for: evaluating innovative assessments through peer review, establishing requirements for transition to a new assessment, and establishing parameters for withdrawing authority in cases where states or consortiums do not meet certain requirements.
These regulations were released to allow for public review and comment.
