This powerpoint provides an overview of the federal framework ensuring stability for students in foster care and considerations for establishing a collaboration between child welfare agencies and education agencies. As part of state plans under the Every Student Succeeds Act, each state must describe the steps it will take to ensure collaboration with the state child welfare agency to ensure the stability of children in foster care. Included are guidance provisions to ensure that structure is established at the local level, opportunities are provided to cross-train child welfare agency and education staff, stakeholder are engaged, and collaboration is ongoing.
