Proposed ESSA Regulation Supports Well-Rounded Education, Protects All Students (Press Release)
On May 26, 2016, the U.S. Department of Education published a press release about proposed regulations for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). These regulations provide new flexibility for states and districts around accountability, data reporting, and state plan provisions. ESSA provides states with flexibility to establish a more comprehensive picture of school success, encourages use of locally-designed, evidence-based strategies for struggling schools, ensures families and stakeholders have clear information for meaningful engagement in education systems, and encourages meaningful stakeholder engagement and planning across programs. This release provides an overview of these key features of ESSA regulations.
