Roadmap for a Successful Transition to the Common Core in States and Districts
The purpose of this report from the Center for American Progress is to provide recommendations for practical ways that states and districts can enact in order to realize the benefits of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and improve the quality of education for all students. The authors identified best practices that are being implemented by states, and their nine recommendations build upon these best practices so that states and districts can effectively translate standards into high-quality instruction. This report includes examples of states or districts tackling each of the actions outlined by the recommendations.
This resource provides an excellent set of recommendations for incorporating new end-of-year CCSS assessments into school, district, and state educational systems over time. It takes a broad view, considering factors that range from teacher and student accountability, to diverse stakeholder engagement.
