Teaching NGSS Engineering Design Through Media

This resource houses a collection of activities and professional development resources drawn from programs such as WGBH’s Design Squad Nation and the Engineering is Elementary® project at the Museum of Science, Boston. These media-based resources illustrate and deepen teachers’ understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards and help teachers bring engineering alive for students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.

The website is organized clearly to show collections of video and instructional materials by grade level. The quality of the videos and the follow-up interviews with educators provide additional insight to users. By registering on the PBS Learning Media site, users are able to organize the resources to tailor their needs. Video streaming is the only permitted use of the videos, accessible captions are provided, and users can provide review scores for each included resource. This resource provides professional developers and teachers with access to NGSS-Engineering-focused implemented lessons in real classrooms.
