WIDA – Top Posts from the First 18 Months
This is a blog from the World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment organization. WIDA’s goal is to advance academic language development and academic achievement for linguistically diverse students through high quality standards, assessments, research, and professional development for educators.
The blog has a large number of resources in its library (http://wida.us/downloadLibrary.aspx. ) but does not contain a large number of entries – just 3 entries for the full month of July 2013. Some months only have one blog entry. The resource library may be more useful than the blog, although a preponderance of the content appears to be only from WIDA sources. Visually the site looks excellent as does the full WIDA web site. The informal language of the blog takes a little getting used to, but it is easy to understand. The blogger tends to be quite positive in all of her comments, suggesting a slight slant away from total objectivity. The supplemental resources in the library substantially increase the utility of the blog. Fairly difficult to rate the effectiveness of the blog due to its unique format and content.
